Group Tours

For Prospective Students:

Special tours for groups of ten or more persons may be arranged by appointment only and should be arranged at least two weeks in advance of your visit. Group tours for college-bound students in the eighth grade or above are conducted through Undergraduate Admissions by the Maryland Images student organization. For younger students and other campus guests:

Group tours for younger student groups, alumni, visiting faculty and other general visitors are conducted by Visitor Center student staff through Visitor Services. Customized campus visits may be arranged that may include stops at various campus landmarks. Currently we offer a general campus tour highlighting key locations on the main part of campus. Arrangements may also be made to tour the Comcast Center, the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center or the Campus Greenhouses. Groups may also get an opportunity to eat in one of our campus dining centers, Stamp Union food court or just grab an ice cream cone at the Dairy! Inquiries may be directed to 301.314.7968 or send an email to visitorcenter@umd.edu. Arrangements should be made at least two weeks in advance of your visit.

Individual Campus Daily Visits

The Office of Admissions offers UpClose Information Sessions on a reservation only basis. The UpClose session begins with a 45 minute information session including a question and answer period conducted by an Admissions representative and held in the Visitor Center auditorium. Immediately following the presentation is a 90 minute walking tour of campus led by a Maryland Images student. For reservations visit http://www.uga.umd.edu/visit or call 800.422.5867.

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions also offers campus tours Monday- Friday at 11am and 2pm throughout the year (with a few exceptions between academic terms), led by Maryland Images student staff. No reservations are required for these walking campus tours for prospective students and their families which depart from the Undergraduate Admissions office located in the Mitchell Building. You are encouraged to arrive 20 minutes prior to the tour to view a video presentation, "Take a Look"

If you miss an opportunity to catch a tour, walking or driving tour maps are available to pick up at the Visitor Center.
