FAQ's
How long is the summer conference season at the University of Maryland?
Our season lasts from the end of May until mid-August. Peak conference times are in late June and most of July. While our summer conference season is limited to the summer months, our office remains open year-round to service your needs and ensure your conference experience is well-organized.
Is campus housing available any time other than the summer?
The University of Maryland houses over 8000 students in residence halls from late August to early May every academic year. Unfortunately, housing is not available during this time. There are numerous lodging choices in the area if you plan to visit during the academic year.
Do you offer conference services any time other than the summer?
Yes. We offer both event planning and complete meeting planning services year round. Our Meeting Planning Services are offered to those affiliated with the University of Maryland and we can coordinate programs whether held on or off campus. Click here for more details of services we offer. Our event planning services offer the same one stop coordination for outside programs wishing to hold events on campus as we do in the summer with the exception of on campus lodging.
Do groups need to contract for meals when staying in on-campus accommodations?
Summer conference groups are not required to purchase a campus meal plan, but it is highly recommended. Youth groups must demonstrate that adequate alternative arrangements for meals have been made to opt out of a campus meal plan.
Most special dietary needs can be arranged for your group, providing adequate advance notification is given prior to your visit to campus. Special needs are likely to incur additional charges.
Do you operate The Inn & Conference Center at the University of Maryland?
No. The Marriott corporation operates The Inn & Conference Center, which is owned by the University of Maryland, University College (UMUC). However, we frequently coordinate conferences held there and it is located immediately adjacent to the College Park campus.
How far is the University from Washington D.C. and Baltimore?
We are located just 9 miles from the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. and there is a metro stop located just 1 mile from campus which connects you by train to all of the attractions in the Nation's Capital. Baltimore is located 35 miles north of the campus and public transportation via the Marc train is located next to the metro stop.
